Cartoon Characters as Facebook Profile Pictures

According to ABC News facebook users are changing their profile pictures to images of their favorite childhood cartoon characters. This is for a campaign against violence on children.

Being a current Facebook user this was an interesting story to me and I thought it was a great way to raise awareness about violence on children.

Last week I had noticed alot of pictures of my "friends" on Facebook being changed to cartoon characters from their childhood and thought was a great way to raise awareness on violence on children. But, what can a cartoon character do? Should we not be doing more? Personally I am all for raising awareness but until we personally decide to do something proactive are things really going to change? A lady and a friend of mine posted...."I am not going to change my picture on Facebook but my husband and I are sponsoring a boy from Turnaround Ranch next year". What a great way to show your support by doing something. Don't get me wrong all of us are not in the position to do something for whatever reason but we can still support those who are and can.

Changing your profile picture on Facebook is a fun way to show support and I have have done it just for what it symbolizes. Not everyone has led an abuse free life and those children need to be remembered and rescued from this type of life. It is nice to go down memory lane and remember times when you didn't have a care in the world so I challenge you: Change your profile picture to your favorite cartoon from when you were a kid. The goal of the game is not to see a human picture on Facebook, but an invasion of childhoods memories until Monday. PLAY AND PASS ALONG! You can find me on Facebook or search for Susan Lucas Bryant.

  1. My wife read your article and giggled, so I had to reply to your blog. Now,don't take that badly, for if you go back into time, I have replied to many of your blogs. She said that I had to reply since she recently changed her facebook so that she is displayed as a smurf. She couldn't think of a better cartoon. If I was to have a facebook account I would have chosen something like he-man or Transformers. Those were my favorites. But, I do see your point on the awareness versus the actions of supporting or helping those that have been abused. Your friends are great for sponsoring a child at the ranch. But, not all of us are in a postion to do that. Just like my son, during breast cancer awareness month, he wore pink socks at his football games in order to show others that it was breast cancer awareness. But, still we are not in a poition to sponsor some one that needs help with doctor bills. What I am saying is donating a dollar or what ever we could put out there, helpa others. To show awareness to others helps others donate a dollar or so. Eventually, when everyone donates a little or a lot, the ones effected by what ever you are telling others, helps the long run. So, with the cartoon characters, have fun with it and tell others just like you did in this blog. Eventually everyone will know that the help is out there. Hopefully, some day with help from all, no more child violence will occur and all will be great in the world. My prayers go out to those that are going through anything right now and I hope that they find a way out, to enjoy the world with out the violence that they know right now.
