According to U.s News College Students make 5 big mistakes: Cutting classes, Overloading, Overmedia-ing, Procrastinating and Doing it alone.
Being that we are all college students,I thought this article had alot of truth to it and was just plain common sense.
Having all online classes makes it hard to cut class but if you procrastinate too much you might miss your deadlines and get a bad grade. Breaking the cost down per class really put it in perspective for me. I don't have student loans or grants so all the money I pay in I have had to work hard for and I definitely want to make the most of the funds I have put towards furthering my education. I can see where taking too many courses would be setting yourself up to fail. Personally I know my limitations and want to put forth my best effort and not overcommitt myself and end up getting less than desirable grades in my classes.
As a mother of a teenager and young adults I know how time consuming facebook and texting can be. I am guilty myself of checking facebook several times a day and making sure I keep my Bejeweled Queen status. Setting a "media-free" zone time everyday could be very beneficial.
Asking for help has never been an issue for me but I know from first hand experience not everyone feels comfortable admitting they don't understand or have a question. The person teaching the course wants you to succeed.and if you don't ask for help the professor has not indication you are struggling until it is sometimes too late.
All in all these are great tips to be used in college and in everyday life. These are constant struggles I think we all have, no matter what age, but it can be easily controlled with a little discipline and determination.
There is so much truth to this blog! I am 18 and it is difficult to manage your time but with online classes it is easier to schedule things around your classes. Procrastination is something you constantly have to battle because you can not push all your assignments off until the day they are due.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. And believe me--y'all ain't the only ones that tend to procrastinate.
